Kahvehs music brings celebration into the body. Through calling us into community they seek to create spaces where self love will flourish. Collective care and collaboration are deeply rooted in trust, Kahvehs sound allows us, to let that light break through.
From the Neat East to the West end, Kāhveh is a Toronto-based, Iranian producer, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. As a producer, Kāhveh draws from a variety of influences, anything from industrial, shoegaze to classical Iranian music, Queen to Ebi, and weaves a world of lush atmosphere, that as a stage for their emotional, heavy pop inspired vocals. Kahveh tends to write songs like letters, or like little musings one mumbles to themselves while working away. Songs about love, identity, and the world, through self-reflections and past pains. Strong elements of pop and dance makes the music dazzle, all while being pulled into the rearview mirror world of nostalgic reflection.
Beneficiary, the debut lead single to their upcoming EP, Inhibitions, is an ethereal, synthpop bop layered with lush and moody synths over a driving disco beat. Over these 80's inspired instrumentals, Kāhveh's raw, emotional vocals, surrounded by a swell of harmonies, leads the listener through a journey of forgiveness, growth and healing after a bitter end to a friendship. It tells the story of their lived experience, and carries the deep understanding that came with it. Persevering with empathy is necessary to healing conflict. It’s easier to forgive than to hold on.
